Even though this series is in its very beginning, I decided to present these works in their own category, because they are a part of a larger thought. This is another idea that lived with me for a long time before I had enough time to give it a body. I like the shamanic concept of Power Animals and this series is my way of getting to know the animals with which I have a connection. Each animal has a particular way of movement about it and I like “tuning” into them when I need to remember how it feels to move that way.
I find it so much more interesting, instead of telling myself in the middle of uncertain or panicked days: “calm down, take a larger view of things”, to allow a part of my psyche to become a Whale, for example, and descend into the depths of the ocean and become big and feel the silent flow, invisible on the surface.
Drawing animals is always a great experience. They do not pose for you and you have to become so good at capturing their gesture quickly, which teaches you to go for the essence of things.
